Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rates Donny van de Beek’s performance vs Liverpool

Solskhaer rates van de beek's performance vs Liverpool

Ole gunners was satisfied with the performance of Donny van de Beek in Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Lwasn't iverpool on Sunday night.

Solskjaer felt the Dutch internationaunl put in a ‘good shift’ for his team-mates, insisting he had done all that had been asked of him before being hooked off.

Van de Beek’s replacement Bruno Fernandes was the match winner.

The Portugal international fired home a free-kick to book a fifth-round tie against West Ham, with Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford both getting on the scoresheet as while Mohamed Salah scored twice for the visitors.

Van de Beek has largely only been afforded opportunities in a Manchester United shirt in cup competitions this season, making just two starts in the Premier League.

With the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Fernandes and Nemanja Matic all in contention for a starting berth in the United midfield, Van de Beek will find it tough to force his way into the first XI.

But Solskjaer was ‘very happy’ with how he performed against defending Premier League champions Liverpool.

‘You can see the cleverness in his movement and how efficient he is with the ball,’ Solskjaer said in his post-match press conference.

‘So, of course, it takes a lot out of you. He’s mentally prepared for this game, he knew a few days ago.

Michael Owen identifies the 'difference' between Man Utd and Liverpool

‘We felt that he’d done his job when we took him off to let Bruno come on to his bit.

‘So Donny did a good job for us, a good shift so very happy.’
